Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 3, 2026 | Last Updated: November 3, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Oto ("Oto," "we," "our," or "us"). Oto is an app for recording motorcycle rides and sharing them with other riders. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Oto mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.

We do not collect your location when you are not using a feature that needs it.

2.4 Contacts
If you choose to find friends from your contacts, the app converts the phone numbers in your contacts into one-way codes (hashes) on your device and sends only those codes, which we compare with existing accounts and do not keep. Names and other contact details do not leave your device.
2.5 Cookies and Tracking
We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising. The Oto app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, and does not use your device's advertising identifier.

5.1 Service Providers
We use third-party service providers for cloud hosting and storage, account verification and text message delivery, crash reporting and analytics, maps and location services, weather data, push notifications, email, and website hosting. They receive only the information they need to perform their services, may use it only on our behalf, and are required to protect it with the same or equal protection as described in this Privacy Policy.
Some providers, such as map providers, may also collect usage data under their own privacy policies. Where they offer controls, such as the information button on maps, you can use them to opt out.
6. Text Messages
We send text messages only to deliver one-time verification codes when you sign up or sign in. We do not send marketing text messages, and we do not share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. Message and data rates may apply.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, and access controls that limit each user to their own data and the content others have chosen to share with them.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Your account and content are retained until you delete them or delete your account.
- When you delete content or your account, we delete it from our active systems promptly. Residual copies in backups are deleted within a limited period as backups are overwritten.
